Sapodilla is a fruit with a rounded shape and a light brown skin. The salmon-colored pulp sometimes contains inedible dark seeds. Sapodilla has a very intense aroma and is often used in sorbets, cocktails, jams and ice creams.
SAPODILLA ORIGIN
The Sapodilla plant is part of the Sapotaceae family, originating in Mexico and produced in Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines and Venezuela. It is cultivated mainly for the chicle, a traditional ingredient of chewing-gum, extracted from its stem.
