RHUBARB FEATURES
Rhubarb is a perennial herbaceous plant belonging to the Polygonaceae family. In appearance it is very similar to celery except for its sour and slightly bitter taste, it has long vertical ribs that end with large green leaves. There are many species but the most widespread and rich in active ingredients is the Chinese rhubarb (Rheum palmatum).
RHUBARB ORIGIN
Rhubarb is a plant native to China where it was used for medicinal and food purposes. Nowadays it grows spontaneously both in Europe and in Asia. Rhubarb has a pleasant aroma and is widely used for the preparation of liqueurs and digestives.
