COCOA FEATURES

Cocoa is a plant belonging to the Sterculiaceae family. The fruit has an elongated shape similar to the cedar which, once ripe, has a light brown color. The very sugary pulp inside contains from 25 to 50 seeds from which the raw cocoa is obtained.

COCOA ORIGIN

Cocoa has a very ancient origin, the plant was already cultivated by the Mayans. The cocoa beans were used by the Indians as exchange coins. It was the Spaniards who spread the cocoa culture in Europe thanks to Christopher Columbus who during his travels was the first European to come into contact with this fruit.
