Italian Bergamot

The bergamot is of the Citrus genus and its name derives from the Turkish. The round shape has a slightly elongated upper part and the rind is a bright green color tending to yellow when very ripe. The pulp contains a lot of juice and is generally used for its essential oil.

The origin of bergamot is still very uncertain. Nowadays 90% of the production is carried out in the province of Reggio Calabria which faces the Ionian Sea.
