Description
CHIVES FEATURES
The appearance of the chives is perennial herbaceous with a variable height between 15 – 50 cm. The shape is elongated and very narrow: they are thin needle-like and form a straight head. The leaves are only of the radical type with a spiral arrangement and are hollow (fistulous).
CHIVES ORIGIN
The area of origin of the chives is Circumboreal / Eurosiberian, but also North American. The geographical distribution of this species is very broad, including northern Eurasia and North America. In Italy it is considered rare and spontaneamante is found in the Alps and in the northern Apennines.
