EDDOS ORIGIN

The eddo or taro is a very ancient crop around 4,000 – 7,000 years ago, but the plant was probably introduced in Japan and China in a later period. It is the tuber of a plant that is supposed to originate from South East Asia, the taro grows in tropical climates but also in the warmer temperate regions, having the virgin forest as its natural habitat. Edd is a staple food in several tropical countries of Asia, the Pacific islands and the West Indies.
